Arrival/Pick Up Policies

Morning Arrival
If you are going to be late for any reason, please call the center or use the messaging feature on brightwheel to let the teachers know that you will be late. If your child has an appointment, please let your child’s teacher know a day before the appointment. This will help with planning their classrooms daily activities. We do ask that all children arrive to school by 10:00 A.M. so they will get in the daily routine of their classroom.

Late Pickup
The Center is open from 7:00am to 5:00pm. If you arrive late to pick up your child, you will be charged a fee of $1.00 per minute. This fee is paid to the teacher on duty. We are required to call DSS and file a 51A report if you are an hour or more late without notice. The late fee must be paid within five days to the teachers. Excessive lateness could lead to termination of childcare services.

Weather Policies

Inclement Weather
Bright Beginnings Learning Center will close if the Governor calls a state of emergency. If the Winthrop, Revere, or Boston Public Schools are canceled we urge you to call the center to let us know if your child will be attending. It is our contention that you keep your child safe and judge the situation yourself.

Weather Closing
During the winter months the day care center will make every effort to remain open during snow storms, etc. However, when the weather is severe enough and travel is not safe it will be Director’s decision to open or have a delayed opening for that day. The Director will make an announcement on brightwheel regarding any scheduling changes. Please remember that we have no power over the weather. There is no tuition refund or compensation for closings that are beyond the control of the center staff.

Transportation Policies

Bright Beginnings Learning Center advises parents or designated adults to transport children in regulation car seats to and from the center. It is the parent’s full responsibility to provide transportation for their child. Your child is in your care until such time as you or the designated adult signs your child into the center and lets the accepting teacher know of your arrival. Your child is the center’s responsibility until you or the designated adult signs your child out of the center, or you make the teacher aware of the child’s departure. This is done on a daily basis. In the event a parent forgets to sign his/her child into the program the center takes over the responsibility once the parent has left the building. If a parent forgets to sign the child out of the program the child becomes the parent’s responsibility once off the property.

Bright Beginnings Learning Center will refuse to release children to any parent or designated adult if under the influence or appears to be intoxicated. We will call a back up driver or taxi.

Emergencies
In the case of an emergency, children will be transported to the hospital by ambulance.
